The chorus performs songs of love, war, work, country life and sorrow from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Georgia, Macedonia, Russia and other countries.
The Yale Slavic Chorus is a performing group of women from a variety of cultural and academic backgrounds who share a common interest in Slavic music. Although primarily an undergraduate group, the chorus also includes other members of the Yale New Haven community and has always been dedicated to maintaining a sense of fellowship, excitement and musical vigor.
The chorus was founded in 1969—the first year of undergraduate coeducation at Yale—and was originally conducted by William Robbins, Jr., then a music major in Yale College and a member of the all-male Yale Russian Chorus. In 2004, the chorus celebrated its 35th anniversary with a reunion concert that drew alumnae from across the globe.
